Hi, I'm Anisha Sharma!

It is such an honor to be a member of the Wilson Scholars Program. Not only does this program allow me to pursue a rigorous academic experience, it also allows me to pursue my passion for making a difference in the world! I know that my time here at Appalachian will empower me with the knowledge, skills, and tools I need to make positive sustainable change as a global contributor.

I chose to come to Appalachian State because it is a special place, with a true commitment to students' success and empowerment as constructive global contributors. There is a clear emphasis on the university's values of student engagement in leadership, community service, research, the arts, internships, and entrepreneurship, with a committed network of support for the academic, personal and intellectual development of each and every student. Amongst both students and faculty, there is a genuine sense of warmth, compassion, and camaraderie, which the phrase "Appalachian family" perfectly encapsulates.

What I found most appealing about Appalachian is its commitment to sustainability (social and environmental). As a Sustainable Development major, i've found my sweet spot working in the Office of Sustainability, working on sustainable tech projects with Equity in STEM Club, and working in the ASU Women's Center. I am looking forward to pursuing my passions and building stronger connections during the remainder of my time here at Appalachian. I know that as a Wilson Scholar, I have the support and opportunities that will help me achieve my dreams!
